TULSA – In an effort to help fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, FC Tulsa has formed a community partnership with the Tulsa Area United Way and made a donation six months in the making to the organization’s COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Collecting the Relief Fund donation began in April when FC Tulsa released its 918 T-shirts. A portion of the proceeds from sales of that shirt and of the white City Kit were gathered throughout the season to donate to the cause. That day came last week when FC Tulsa hosted Tulsa Area United Way CEO Alison Anthony, and FC Tulsa ownership presented the organization with the donation and a custom 2020 FC Tulsa jersey.
“We are glad that Tulsa’s team, FC Tulsa, is part of this community’s team of givers that United Way has celebrated for 96 years,” said Anthony. “Tulsa is America’s most generous city, and it’s obvious that not only will FC Tulsa continue to excel on the field, but also excel in making our community stronger by meeting its needs. FC Tulsa is Living United with us and has integrated generosity into the club’s culture.”
In addition to the COVID-19 Relief Fund donation through merch proceeds, FC Tulsa also pledged to participate in an employee campaign for ongoing contributions to the Tulsa Area United Way and partner agencies in 2021.
