Austin Wormell has been nominated by the USL Championship for Save of the Week in the final week of the season, joining teammates Joaquín Rivas and Bradley Bourgeois as FC Tulsa players who have received League nominations over the past seven days.
Wormell was forced to face Memphis 901 FC’s Alan Winn one-on-one as Winn streaked down the left side of the pitch. Wormell made a point-blank save, using both hands to parry away the dangerous shot at his near post and averting any danger. The rookie keeper made eight saves in total during the contest, putting on an impressive display in a pivotal match for the club.
In total, Austin Wormell made 46 saves over 16 appearances for FC Tulsa in his first season as a professional, posting a very respectable 69.7% save pct. and three total clean sheets.
