TAMPA, Fla. – Following a review of all video angles of the play by an Independent Review Panel, the USL Championship has rescinded midfielder Rodrigo da Costa’s red card shown in FC Tulsa’s match season opening match Saturday at Charleston Battery after a successful appeal by the club.
With the red card rescinded, da Costa will not be suspended for FC Tulsa’s home opener at ONEOK Field on Saturday night and will be available for selection by head coach Michael Nsien.
“We are glad to have had a successful appeal,” said Nsien. “Rodrigo is an important player for our club, and of course we want him available for our home opener against Birmingham. It was obvious that Rodrigo had not contacted the Charleston player and actually refrained from extending his leg at all.”
Tickets are still available for the match, starting at just $12 if purchased in advance. Kickoff on Saturday against Birmingham Legion FC will be at 7:30 p.m. CT at ONEOK.
