Tulsa Roughnecks FC captain Sammy Ochoa has been one of the top offensive producers in the USL this season, and he again has been recognized for his play. On Monday, Ochoa was named the USL Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The Tulsa forward received the latest honor after delivering his best performance of the season last Friday in a 3-2 victory over Arizona United SC. Ochoa scored one goal and assisted on the other two in the Roughnecks win.
“It’s a great honor to get the award for a second time,” said Ochoa. “It feels good to get the goals, but we have to continue to work to get more wins.”
For the season, the former Seattle Sounders player has scored eight goals which is the fifth highest in USL. Ochoa has also been credited with five assists which ties him for the most in the league.
It marks the third time that a TRFC player has received the Player of the Week honor. In addition, to Ochoa’s recognition this season, goalkeeper Jake Feener received the award following his 13-save performance in his professional debut last season.
