2024 – FC Tulsa
FC Tulsa signed Johan Peñaranda to a short term contract on June 7, 2024. On June 26, 2024 the club signed Peñaranda to a contract for the remainder of the 2024 season. During his time with FC Tulsa, Peñaranda amassed 85 saves on 109 shots faced. He finished the season with 7 clean sheets. Peñaranda was named to the USL Team of the Week in Week 19, he was named the USL Player of the Month in July becoming the only FC Tulsa player in club history to receive that recognition. Johan was also nominated for Save of the Week five times in the 2024 season. He was also nominated for Save of the Year.

2018 – 2019 – University of Pittsburgh
Started 19 matches for the Panthers. In 2018, he had 10 saves and one shutout. In 2019, part of the first team in program history to win a ACC Tournament match. Peñaranda ended the 2019 season with 41 saves and a 66.1 save percentage.
